I bought these to mix in with similar pants from other companies (Patagonia Talus, Marmot light soft shells, etc.) I am a hands on specialty contractor in alaska, (and an ex-commercial fisherman) and live outside in all forms of weather. Straight from work into hiking, fishing, mountain biking, dog walking, mechanicing, x-c sking, etc., etc. Every day. My pants get used very hard, (Carhardts have never lasted me more than 6 WEEKS, and are miserable to wear when wet, which is most of the time here) and this type of pant wears like iron (5 plus YEARS now on one pair) and remain comfortable in all of our weather (with long johns in winter, and raingear as nesc.) These Lowes are new, but fit fine, look as well constructed, and have a thicker layer on knees and seat that looks great(durable).

My wife ordered me a pair of these pants for walking and hiking once the weather cooled off. They are perfect for 50 degrees and below. They block the wind, yet are lightweight and easy to move in. Now I want another pair!!!

Never buy this, you will lose your life with this in mountaineering definitely!! It's not windproof, not waterproof, not warm at all. It's a 20-bulk ADIDAS running pant sewing with some pads of rubber.I am so stupid to take such [*] home. It is the worst order I have ever made in my 7 years' exploring.

Pants are very soft, comfortable and stretchy; like thin sweatpants. Unfortunately I do not feel they would be very durable or very water resistant. Great pants for hiking in the winter, but not suitable for "alpine ascents".
