I looked like a frenchman in these ski pants. The waist comes up really high, the sizing is too small, and they are definitely not insulated or warm. In fact, these are a shell of a pant and you'd need to buy thick leggings to wear underneath. If you plan on doing this, please make sure you order a few sizes up so you'll have room for the leggings!! Needless to say, I returned these as they weren't anything like what I expected.

These pants are tough and lightweight. The reinforced fabric means the leg bottoms won't fray or lose their waterproofing too quickly. For me the waist fit well - it is high, as other reviewers have commented, but although not stylish, that is just what you need to avoid snow down your pants, and helps avoid having the top of your thermals, pants and this shell all in the same place. I took off the suspenders, which is easy as they have velcro fasteners/adjusters. The only thing that was a real disappointment was the length. I am 5'8" and I would be happy with them being at least two inches longer. I was looking forward to using the built in gaiters to prevent snow getting into my boots. But although I could adjust the tightness to fit my hiking boots, and hook into my laces at the front, the shortness of the pants meant the gaiters pulled up off my my boots at the back, so I had to wear extra gaiters on top. However for a shorter person, I think these would be great. As they are a shell, they can be used in different seasons.

These were terrible fitting pants. They are way too wide on the legs (you could wear 3 pairs of sweat pants under them)and the waist is really small. This seems characteristic of Lowe Alpine. For example, I have a jacket that is only snug at the hips where most of my clothes are generally too loose. I also bought a pair of their pants with velcro at the waist and when you do any activity, the tabs at the waist open.
