I just got these so haven't used them yet. I hope the open legs at the shoe won't bother me. I am used to having some way to tighten this part of my rain pants. And I wish they were roomier for layering. I will find out this summer on vacation in a very wet place. But they look like they will be fine. don't know yet if I'd recommend them or not.

I read the reviews and thought how noisy can noisy be, at least on me, with fairly muscular legs, the pants crinkled and cracked with every movement. I guess in certain situations (really windy slopes) you may not hear them, but on quiet walks, skating, or during lunch after skiing, they're loud in a strange way.

I will be wearing mine for the first time next week on a hike to see the elephant seals. I'm confident I will be warm and comfortable.

Paclite is a great waterproof fabric and the price was great, but the sizing is weird. I first ordered the size "44". I'm 5'7, size 6. The pants fit okay if I were just standing and walking on flat ground, but if I bent my leg as if hiking, climbing, or biking they rode up several inches and would not have protected my shins or ankles from rain. They have no internal gaiters either, so it's important that they are long enough. Since I primarily want them for emergency rain gear while climbing, I exchanged them for a larger size, 48. I'm keeping these because they're such a good deal, lightweight, packable, and the legs are long enough...actually they're a little too long but doable.

I haven't used these pants seriously yet so can't comment about durability but these are a nice simple and practical design in a very lightweight fabric, making them very packable and ideal for travel and casual wear.
