“Awkward fit”

“I purchased this to use as my main foul-weather jacket for guiding/ice climbing/mountaineering. However, it's going back tomorrow. First off, the jacket is well made. All the seams are perfectly sealed, the pockets are logically placed for use with a pack/harness, you can easily fit a helmet under the hood, and the jacket has a double-slider zipper.Unfortunately, the sleeves are enormous in volume. They're nearly big enough for me to get my legs in, and have far too much extra material for them to be a practical climbing/mountaineering jacket. In addition to that, the "pit-zips" are a basically useless 4 inch zipper/slit on the inner tricep. Due to this design, you don't actually get any air-flow to your pits, and can't easily reach the zipper because of its location. So, rather than providing additional ventilation, all we get is extra weight. Finally, and this is a bit of a nit-pick, the triple storm flap on the main zipper is total overkill. All it really does is make it harder to get into the jacket.Had I been able to try on this jacket and see all these issues first-hand, I would never have even considered purchasing it.None of these faults are Sierra Trading Posts however.
