Bottom Line:

This is an excellent pack. I have used it for three extended backpacking trips in the wilds of Pennsylvania. Each loadout (less water) has been around 25-27 pounds, and this pack has performed perfectly. I've also worn it on a few dayhikes in order to become comfortable with the suspension and weight. It is well ventilated, if adjusted properly, and the straps and hipbelt are sufficiently well-padded. It is somewhat difficult to adjust the torso length to the perfect length, but once the adjustment has been made, the pack is very comfortable. I have mine at around 18.5 inches, though my measurement is just under 18 inches. The hipbelt is a bit broad for my taste, and I have noticed that if it begins to sag from my hips, the belt will pinch my waist. For the money, the features list on this pack is outstanding. It includes its own rain cover, has a bladder sleeve that stores my empty Nalgene Cantene comfortably, offers front and top access to the main compartment, has two pockets in the lid (one on the outside, one within), has two bellows pockets on the sides of the main compartment, and a sleeping bag compartment that can be unzipped to extend the main compartment. Another plus is that the pack is extendable to 80 liters, which allows the pack to work well as both a multi-day and weeklong pack. The zippers are strong and haven't snagged; the lash points on the lid and front are handy. I do wish that it had a pocket on the hipbelt for a map or trail snacks (it does NOT, despite the mention of it in the description), and it would be convenient NOT to have to remove the pack to access a bottle in the mesh pockets. The pack is slightly on the heavy side, although I've tried on many much heavier packs. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a multiday pack. I'm certain that there are better options out there, but in all fairness, there are few near this price point that would compare.
