All the Lowe Treklite jackets have a couple nasty design flaws: The new models are too short for good coverage sitting down (3" shorter than older Lowe jackets).. They also sport a ONE-WAY zipper rather than the more common 2-way parka zipper. These jackets are just long enough that when zipped, the jacket binds if you squat down or sit. I was really disappointed as I had high hopes that this would be "the one" to replace my 15-yr old Lowe Treklite jacket that finally died.

I'm disappointed with this coat. The last Lowe Alpine rain coat I had was awesome in the almost daily downpours we have, with the best hood I've ever had. This coat has a ridiculously huge, impossible to adjust hood. That would be tolerable, but I hike one to four hours per day in a rain forest. This coat soaks through on my arms every single day. I'm returning it for a refund.

This item fits large. I ordered a large as I am a tall woman who usually needs a large for sleeve length. I probably could have fit into a medium better but have decided to stay with the large so that I can fit many layers underneath if I need to. It is an attractive coat, very waterproof and good breathability. I really miss the pit-zips that my old coat had - the zip vents on the sleeves just don't cut it. In general it is comfortable, light and does its job as a waterproof breathable layer.
