After 3 months of backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park, I finally broke down and bought a pair of waterproof pants. I love lowe alpine brand so I opted for these. I stayed nice and dry through 2 rain storms and 1 hail storm. The material seems really durable as well.

These pants are very lightweight, and well made. And they're Gore-Tex. And they're only about [$]. And they zip to above the knee for pulling on over boots. And they sit at your natural waist. They pack down pretty small, too. I haven't actually used them yet, but the quality is so obvious I am confident that after wasting lots of money on cheaper pairs that weren't REALLY waterproof/breathable, I've finally found good rain pants.

I plan to take this rain pants on my Antarctica trip in March. We're advised to wear an insulated water proof pants but i'll be wearing polatec micro-fleece pants and this lowe alpine rain pants. I got a size bigger so that i can wear other pants under. I just wished it had side pockets and of course i hope this will keep me dry in Antarctica! As always, STP service and delivery were excellent!

I bought these to wear for rainy hiking expecting moderate to steep inclines. I'm 5'5", athletic 135 lbs. and STP recommended to go up one size and that it is classic fit. I wear size 8 hiking pants and so bought size 10 in these. They fit over my hiking pants and I can squat down in them okay, but the knee is very stiff and they fit slim (waist 27" and no extra room in there). I like the overall quality and so I'm exchanging for a size 12 and hopefully my knees can bend properly.
