This thing WAY too big to hold a practically sized water bottle. It's literally big enough to hold a 1 liter bottle, or a bottle of Glenlivet, which is the only bottle I had of any type that fit perfectly. There is a draw string tensioner to keep it closed, but I can imagine why anyone would want to keep this much liquid hanging off of their hip. It must be used with a belt, because the belt loop is sewn on both ends, and has a velcro backing. I have a number of normal sized, 16-20 oz bottles that I would like to carry, but if I wanted to carry more than 32 oz, I would get a Camelbak. This thing would work well as a military dump pouch, except the drawstring keeper is neon yellow. Other than the fact that it's essentially worthless, it seems well built. I guess I should have paid closer attention to the dimensions listed.

Made to hold larger water bottles than I normally get. Wish velcro strap for belt attachment was loose at one end to slip it around something that cannot be slipped through the attachment, ie, strap on purse or backpack that is permanently attached.

Works well for Nalgene bottles, only downside is that the retention loop in the back that attaches the holster to a strap is sewn and not adjustable. This makes it strong, but you cannot thread a closed loop/webbing through it.

Forget those mesh half-sleeves. Secure your water bottles in one of these insulated sleeves. I have three - one for each pack - because you have to undo a pack strap and thread it through the fixed opening (which has Velcro but is not adjustable). The insulation is surprisingly effective. I've had ice cubes melt in my second bottle within a couple hours, but last all day in my Lowe Alpine.

I attached the holder onto the belt portion of my backpack for hiking. During the winter months I don't like to be bothered with the hydration pack so this allows me to access my water easily. I can also use this with my lumbar pack when I have a lighter day of hiking. It is larger in size than I expected length way but it works for what I wanted.
