Purchased the lowepro daypack looking for a camera case-backpack that would hold extra items in addition to a camera/lenses. Others I looked at were the mountainsmith brands and the lowepro sling-type bag. I chose this one because of the excellent reputation of lowepro. It also had features I liked such as : more comfortable than a sling, with a handle on top that allows strapping bag onto carryon, the bottom is squared so when set down it won't tip over, the internal front pocket has 2 small zippered pockets for money, extra memory cards, etc, as well as numerous slots for ipod and a key clip. The size of the front compartment is spacious enough for a sweater and lunch. The back compartment is well padded and designed for a laptop. What I don't really like is that the camera compartment is a bit shallow to place my DSLR with the 40-150mm lens in (lens down) though I can either put my smaller lens on, with plenty of room left over for the zoom, or I can adjust the pockets to fit the body + zoom in sideways.

I do a lot of day hikes and nature photography and needed a good daypack, when I found the Lowepro with the camera storage. I knew this was what I needed. Love it.

I just received this bag and it is exactly what I was looking for. It easily holds my laptop with room to spare, plus my CANON XSI, a couple of lenses, flash, assorted chargers, etc. It will FIX my Sony Laptop. It falls perfectly on my back and it doesn't look like a big bulky backpack you would take camping. It's pretty stylish, too. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS DAYPACK!!!!

I use the pack in my job as a construction inspector and can carry my 17" laptop as well as fragile measuring instruments, safety glasses, camera etc. in the various adjustable padded compartments, plus the rest of my stuff in a separate zippered area with lots of pockets.

This bag offers a lot due to it's simplicity. It holds a laptop and supplies, it can hold a SLR and a lens or two. It's kind of an in-between bag that I come back to time and time again. It's best as a day bag and that is what I use it for on my job as it holds the video equipment I need. With all the bags out there that are trying to do everything, some day a bag like this will be valued because it does it's job and does it well without all the bells and whistles.

This EASILY holds my 17" Dell Inspiron with the extended battery (note: you do have to remove the extra pad at the bottom of the laptop compartment - there is still plenty of padding)!!! I had been looking for a backpack to travel with to lighten the load, as my case from Dell is very heavy, and this fits the bill. Along with the laptop I am able to put my purse and a book in the top front pocket and the power cords, my digital slr, my video recorder, my mouse and a few other small items in the bottom pocket/pouch. Other reviewers are correct in saying that you cannot fit tons of paperwork in this pack, but I am able to fit a slim folder of papers in the laptop compartment with my laptop. I love the handle/strap combination - makes it so much easier to pick up from the top. I don't find that this part of the backpack bothers me at all while it is on my back. I am so happy with the functionality of this pack that I have ordered one for my husband who is an avid photographer and computer geek.

This bag isn't really for backpacking. It is the best I have seen, however, for city use, with specifically designed, well padded compartments for camera gear and a 17 inch laptop. It has enough special compartments to keep everyday items well organised and it looks very smart as well.

I bought this primarily for travel. I can take my Camera one lens and power supplies. And have my laptop available to download photos onto whenever I choose, I can even throw a instant digital camera in there for getting quick shots of the kids. Dont get this if you have large quantities of camera equipment, I think this is best used for day trips and travel.
