At Sierra Trading Post, we want to do everything we can to ensure that your new product fulfills your every expectation and fits you perfectly. We test every product in-house for sizing and fit, then compare/contrast our measurements with information from the manufacturer. If our fit experts determine that a product is running small, large or in any way not true to size, a size note is included on the product page. Each size note has a recommendation for proper fit based upon the results of our in-house sizing and fit process.

Please use the following sizing chart for general reference only. Sizes between different vendors and manufacturers does vary. Item specific sizing is best found in the item description.

How do I determine my clothing size?
Shirts require that you know your neck and sleeve length. Use a flat fabric tape measure to find each of these measurements.
Pants require two measurements: your waist and inseam. Here's how to find them (using a flexible cloth tape measure):

• Lay your best-fitting pair of pants out flat on a table or bed.
• Make sure the pants are buttoned or zipped up completely.
• For Inseam: Measure from the top of the inner pant leg seam (the crotch) to the opening at the bottom of the pant leg.
• For Waist: Measure the waistband of the pants from the inside. (If you measure the waistband from the outside, its thickness could distort your true size.) If you find this difficult, you can simply measure around your exposed waist where your pant waistband rests.

Note: Always make sure the measuring tape lies flat or snugly against your body or the pants when taking these measurements.

Footwear Fit Tips

If the shoe fits, wear it. So the old saying goes, and Sierra Trading Post wants you to get the best possible fit with every pair of shoes, boots, sandals, slippers or socks you buy from us. All footwear goes through an in-house sizing and fit process and then we compare/contrast with information from the manufacturer.

If footwear items are determined to be running small, large or in any way not true to size, there will be a size note on the product page. On every product page all available widths will also be listed. For men, D is listed on our site as "medium width." For women, B is listed on our site as "medium width." Any higher letter indicates a wider size, and any lower letter a narrower size. Men have a medium width of D, a narrow width of B, a wide width of E and an x-wide width of 3E. Women have a medium width of B, a narrow width of A, a wide width of D and an x-wide width of EE.

How do I determine my shoe size?

Our printable Brannock Foot-Measuring Device is the best way to determine your ideal shoe size. It measures your feet in three important ways: heel-to-toe length, arch length and width. The Brannock device is something you may have seen or used in a shoe store before.
