Is free shipping really free?

Some of our online competitors offer 'free' shipping. But is it really free? The fact is, all companies incur shipping costs and frequently inflate the prices on their merchandise in order to cover those costs. We prefer a more straightforward approach. Our prices reflect the great deals we've negotiated, and our shipping & handling costs are clearly stated, not hidden. We believe in offering huge everyday savings (even after shipping & handling fees), plus best-of-class service. The trust of our customers is important to us.

  • Who do I contact with questions about DirectShip?
  • Please contact Sierra Trading Post Customer Service with any questions.
  • What is DirectShip?
  • DirectShip means that the item you order will be sent directly from our vendor to the address you specify. DirectShip items may have additional shipping charges added to our standard shipping rates.
  • How do I know an item is designated DirectShip?
  • An icon is located on the product page which reads: Ships Directly from Vendor. Additionally, product copy states that the item is DirectShip and refers to the 30-Day Return Policy that applies to all DirectShip items.
  • 30-Day Return Policy
  • DirectShip items are subject to a 30-Day Return Policy. You must return DirectShip items to the vendor within 30 days for a refund or exchange to be issued. Preauthorization is required for DirectShip returns. Subject to return shipping fees. Not eligible for online exchanges or refunds using instant store credit. Here is how returns are handled.

  • Making a Return: Do not return DirectShip items to Sierra Trading Post
  • DirectShip products must be returned within 30 days to the vendor for your return to be processed and a refund or exchange to be issued.
  • 1. Contact Sierra Trading Post Customer Service and tell them that you want to return a DirectShip item, as well as the reason for return.
  • 2. Customer is responsible for paying the return shipping fees.
  • 3. Request a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from Customer Service, to return the item to the vendor.
  • 4. Customer will be responsible for the return: repacking the item, marking the exterior package with RMA number and contacting carrier for pickup.
  • 5. A credit will be issued equal to the original purchase price (shipping costs not included) after the item has been inspected and the return process is completed by the vendor.

  • Quoted delivery price is for curbside delivery. Customer is responsible for arranging any other delivery options with the shipping company. Additional fees may apply for options other than curbside delivery.
  • On the product page it says the DirectShip item "Must ship UPS Ground within the 48 contiguous U.S.A. only" - what does that mean?
  • DirectShip items of a certain size and weight arrive by UPS Ground. Your item will be left at the address you specify. You do not need to be present to sign for delivery. Any extra shipping charges listed at the bottom of the product page are in addition to standard shipping rates.
  • On the product page it says the DirectShip item "Must ship via truck within the 48 contiguous U.S.A. only" – what does that mean?
  • DirectShip items that exceed a certain size and weight arrive by Freight Truck. Freight Truck shipments differ from other deliveries.
  • 1. Your signature is required for delivery, so you must be present to accept or refuse delivery see details
  • 2. The freight truck company will contact you to arrange a delivery time, so a contact phone number is required
  • 3. The quoted delivery price is for curbside delivery. Other delivery options must be arranged (by you) with the shipping company. Additional fees may apply for options other than curbside delivery.

  • How do I order a DirectShip item?
  • Ordering a DirectShip item is no different from ordering any other item. Please refer to our website for more information on placing an order. Please contact Sierra Trading Post Customer Service if you need help with your order.
  • Do Free Shipping offers (catalog riddles, keycodes, DealFlyer, etc.) apply to DirectShip items?
  • No, all DirectShip items are excluded from Free Shipping offers.
  • Can DirectShip items be shipped to the store using the Ship-to-Store option?
  • No, because the items are shipped directly from the vendor instead of shipped from our warehouse, DirectShip items are not eligible for the Ship-to-Store option.
  • Can I request an item be sent DirectShip?
  • No, only items designated as DirectShip arrive direct from our vendors.
  • Who do I contact with DirectShip questions?

  • Who pays for return shipping?
  • The customer is responsible for return shipping fees. During the return process all items are inspected. If it is determined that there are errors (wrong item, size, color, etc.), defects or damages incurred during shipping, the return shipping fee will be refunded.
  • Are DirectShip items eligible for ReturnExpress?
  • DirectShip items are not eligible for ReturnExpress.
