Luminox Field Sport Timer Watch (For Men)

I bought a Luminox in 1996, it's still going today. I own Breitling, Tag, Seiko, and still wear the Luminox in low light conditions. The person I gave the watch too loves it!

great at night or dark lighting.The heft was the only problem.They make great watches ...this just was not the one for me.

Beware! I purchased a 1837 Luminux and one day after 4 months I looked down and noticed the crown was missing. I set the watch when I purchased it and never touched it again. The crown simply fell out. Understanding that these watches are touted for their reliability, I fully expected Luminox to repair the defect under warranty. I called the USA Luminox corporate headquarters in California and was told that my problem was not covered under warranty. They refused to stand by their product. Tough luck. So, if you purchase a Luminox watch and it starts to fall apart for no reason as mine did, be aware that you will receive no satisfaction from a company that supposedly prides itself in it's build quality.

MICROTEC "lanterns" make a Luminox worth owning to begin with. 1st time buyers will certainly understand the value of "readability". Luminox timepieces are glowing with readability.

Always easy to read at night or dark place.

Very attractive watch - unbeatable night time readability... I noticed this watch is considerably lighter versus my ten year old Luminox - a Swiss trained horologist (clock/watch maker) confirmed the bands, cases & crystal are now made in China... at the price it is still a great deal... movement is low end but reliable

Overall great watch for the money. The workmanship seems top notch over the entire watch except for the bracelet, which does not seem cheap, but doesn't seem quite as nice as the rest of the watch. Some had mentioned that the hands are similar in length and that made the watch hard to read at a glance. While the hands are fairly similar in length, I did not have any difficulty reading the watch.

As others have commented on the Luminox watches, mine had poor alignment of the second hand to the the indices. It's a sign of poor quality but it is not important to me for this watch. The accuracy of the timekeeping is excellent after about two weeks: no change compared to radio-controlled clock. Visibility's incredible. Essentially the same price as a plastic body Marathon with tritium vials but looks a lot better. The blue dial is striking and handsome. I replaced the stainless bracelet with a leather strap so I can't comment on the bracelet's functionality, but the bracelet looks like excellent quality. It has 20 mm strap width at the horns. Many of us would expect a screw-down crown in a watch like this--not present. However it may keep watertight just as well without screwing down if it is precisely built. I haven't tested it with a wet challenge beyond washing dishes, however.

At a quick glance it is hard to tell the difference between the hour and minute hand.
