Macpac is the offspring of ambition and experience. In 1973, Macpac’s then 19-year-old Bruce McIntyre left university studies to start his own company. His vision was simple: to design and manufacture backpacks that were more functional and affordable than anything else on the market. Soon after, Bruce offered to make backpacks for a group of experienced young backpackers from the Canterbury Mountaineering Club if they agreed to help with the pack design.
