Mad Rock Maniac Climbing Shoes (For Men and Women)

I know that climbing shoes should be ordered at the size or half size below your normal street shoe size to fit correctly, but the sizing on these shoes is completely wrong, even accounting for the fact that Mad Rock runs smaller than other brands. I wear a women's US size 5.5 (with no socks) in street shoes and this typically translates for my climbing shoes; I can even size down to women's US size 5 sometimes. Reading the previous reviews and having tried on other Mad Rock shoes in store (granted, not the Maniacs - but I figured the sizing would be similar across shoes), I ordered the women's US6 in the Maniacs. The heel cup is insanely deep and I can barely even get my foot into the shoe. Sending these back ASAP. I'd need at least a full size up to even have a snug fit in these shoes; when I put them on for the first time, my toes were bent backwards and underneath my foot.

I love this shoes. If you are a new buyer to madrock, then know that you need to size up, some times as much a 2 sizes. I have used the shoe outside for face climbing and crack. I feel they are better for face climbing because of the strap. They smear and edge great.I will be buying another pair.

Its a good fit, but be safe and buy one size large. the only problem i have with this is that strap runs under the arch. you hardly ever climb on that portion of your shoe, but when you do that can make it aggravating.That aside, killer shoes. for[$] bucks? lovely.

have gone through 5 pairs of these shoes. i wear a 11.5 street shoe and a 10.5 madrock. these shoes are made to stretch and conform to your feet...not fun at first but leads to great results after several sessions.

I needed cheap shoes in a hurry, and read on the site that Mad Rock runs small. So I ordered a pair of Mad Rock mens size 9 for my girlfriend, who wears a womens size 8. The shoes fit her very well. They were comfortable for her all weekend on a recent climbing trip, and provided plenty of traction.

My street shoe size is 11.5 US. I bought these at size twelve and they are so tight they hurt my feet just trying them on...Forget using them! Don't like the velcro strap across the sole of this shoe either.

I wear a mens size 11 and ordered an 11.5...these are size 10, tops. I'd say it's pretty narrow as well and I have an average width foot.

Although I ordered them a size up (since they are climbing shoes) I couldn't even get my foot in them b/c of the shape. I think they are defective, unable to see how a human is intended to wear, much less climb, in these.
