Usually wear a size 12-12.5 men's running shoe (brooks last), size 46 cycling shoe (shimano last). Figured I'd try a 45 in these because that's the biggest they had and the price was too good to pass up. To my delight and surprise, my toes don't touch the front of the toe box, and they are wide enough to accommodate. Imagine this is because most users will wear thick socks due to wintertime. But this seems unnecessary because they are quite insulated enough already. So will get some thin ski socks (or maybe just ski in my compression socks) to go under the pants and should be totally fine.

These skis flashed on the site at a price that made me order two. After the order was confirmed I was informed by email that there was only one pair left. On top of this fiasco, the skis arrive in a size 188 despite the fact that the posting listed only 198's available. Despite the always excellent customer service from STP, I elected not to send them back in favor of giving them to the local youth ski team. To the point: these are a recreational touring ski and not a classic race ski. Still an awesome price.

I received an email to rate these skis. Well, since all of our snow melted I cannot provide an accurate rating. I can provide some information, however.

--First and foremost, Madshus places these skis in their racing series, even though they are entry level racing skis. They are quite narrow, made to fit into groomed tracks. They are not backcountry touring skis.

--The skis I received have a flex rating of "hard' . This is good for me as it raises the weight limit on the skis, up to 198 lbs for the 195 length. If you are looking for a softer flex you should email customer service and see if they know what they have in stock. I emailed them before I ordered but had to decide on ordering before I heard back (never did hear back).

--The skis have an NIS binding plate. I am going to use SNS bindings which do not work with the NIS plate, but I am told the SNS bindings can be installed over the plate without any modifications. We shall see.

--The "Zero" in the name refers to the recommended temperature range for this ski. I did a little research after receiving the skis and discovered the Intelligrip rubberized no-wax kick zone is designed for temperatures above to just below 32 degrees F/0 degrees C to just below. And, you are supposed to use different grades of sandpaper to "texture" the surface, depending on snow conditions. This temperature range is fine for me, but you need to be aware of your intended use if you decide to buy a pair.

--Online instructions for this type of kickzone recommend applying silicone spray, liquid fluoro waxes, or fluoro powder to the kick zone after using sandpaper in order to prevent glide and eliminate icing. I didn't know this and will have to purchase one of them for next year.

Overall I am very happy with the skis I received. They are the right flex for my height and weight, I bought these skis specifically for the conditions they are designed for (wamer, wet snow), and they look cool. I will have to wait until we have more snow to test them, however.
