The boot has a box toe, for a little more room to more your toes. The heel of the boot is cupped and reinforced up most of the Achilles tendon area of the foot. Out of the box, I wore the boots on a 3 mile walk and received a blister on the middle of the Achilles tendon on my right foot, left foot was Okay. The heel area is cushioned very nicely, but very little under the toes. 3 eyelets up has a locking feature for the lace. I understand the feature to be for rapid deployment of the boot. Slip your feet in the boot and you don't have to lace up the rest of the boot up to walk around without them falling off or being too loose. I will replace the insole with a sole or superfeet insole.

I use these boots while flying and instructing in helicopters all day. I like the flexible soles which help maintain the feel in the pedals. They seem to be well built and well ventilated. Would like to change the lace locking system as it works awkwardly. Time will tell but initial impression is very positive.

Light weight for the 10 inch height. Well padded in the ankle and higher areas. However, the protective padding probably will prevent this boot from drying out fast if it gets submerged. They're made for drainage, and they will drain rapidly due to the holes in the bottom of the sole and on the toe, but dry out, hmmm I wonder. They appear to be very well made and they're really comfortable. I also find them to be best worn with a cool max type sock of midweight. I would prefer a speed lace system because of the gusseted tongue.
These boots are a great buy and make a super tactical boot for law enforcement.
