Malone

I bought two sets of racks to haul 2 kayaks. My '05 4Runner has lots of room for this. Installation is a snap. Its the tying down that gets cumbersome. Once tied down, the kayaks ride secure and stable.

Not as easy to install as other Malone carriers I currently own. Took too long to install, and I was not happy with the stability and safety of my kayak after installation.

Affordability and utility for the price as compared to other famous brands

Fits subaru oem racks great. For large diameter crossbars, like Xterra, need to get longer bolts at hardware store.

Love the rack but unfortunately it will not fit with my Yakima rack/rail system. The amount saved diminishes the total value but still saved me $100 over a Yakima unit. Easy assembly.

I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier with factory crossbars. My crossbars were too thick for the attachments, but after retapping the holes and getting new screws, it was fine. Love it and can't wait to put it to use on our next camping trip!

I bought this rack for my '07 Subaru Forester. Assembly and installation took about 45 minutes. Looks really clean on my Subaru! I would recommend this product.

Had looked at this type of equip. for several years, nationally known brands and when I came across this Malone I read the reviews and then contacted the Company via e-mail to verify that it would be compatible with my vehicle. 15 min. to put together and 15 min. to install on top of vehicle. PERFECT ! And even better, no tools required!

Just got back from a cross-country road trip in a Honda Element and this basket worked perfectly. With two backpacks and a full-sized rolling bag on top, the provided net kept everything secure. Wind noise was no worse than with my Thule rack on a bare roof. Only complaint is that the basket looks odd because it is fairly short. Other comparable baskets -- Thule Moab, Yakima LoadWarrior -- offer an extension that runs the length of the roof. Malone also does not offer bike, snowboard or ski attachments for this basket like Yakima and Thule. However, the Malone basket is roughly half the price, with coupon [...]. And while this basket looks like a little metal hat on my Element, I'm not complaining. Great price and nice construction. Get one while they last.
