I got this jacket for the -40 in Northern Alberta. It has serious loft and does not pack down small.

It's light, super-warm, collar and insulated hood cover most of the face if fully closed. It basically feels like wearing a sleeping bag from the waist up. Loft tapers down at cuffs and below the waist.

The lighter exterior material on the torso doesn't feel as rip resistant as I would like. The zipper is quite balky and can take several attempts before betting both zips in and able to zip-up. It is a two direction zipper, which is fine, but the construction of it is not heavy enough to facilitate easy zipping.

Bottom line: it's the best deal out there for serious insulation, if you're willing to put up with the zipper.

I am impressed by the considerable warmth of this jacket. At 30 degrees F. I walk the dogs with the jacket unzipped and still feel toasty.

The hood fits snugly and comfortably. I'm a hat guy and have always preferred to leave the hood of a parka at home. But this one is as comfortable as a hat, and warmer.

Have only worn the jacket half a dozen times, so can't comment on durability. I hope long wear hasn't been sacrificed to light weight.

The main zipper can be hard to fasten and zip up. For a while I thought I'd have to have it replaced. The double zipper (2 zip-unzip pulls, top and bottom) doesn't add anything practical that I can see. I'd much rather have a sturdier single zipper. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

I wanted an expedition coat and this one is Perfect! I bought this
coat just for very cold weather and I am glad I did. I bought the XL. I am 6'1" at 200 lbs. and it fits me nicely. It's so light and warm, and the soft fleece collar is great.
The extra length is perfect for the cold. I'm quite happy.

I wanted the North Face Himalayan or the Mountain Hard Wear Absolute Zero,
By default I discovered Mammut, Look them up, Quality for over 100 plus years,
This Jacket for the price is Awesome, super light, super warm, a comfortable
collar around the hood, great inside storage. Other reviews comment about the zipper, it's because it's Euro, it's like zippers from Europe or Canada, they start on
opposite side, I'm used to that from Bogner products. If you want the warmest
jacket for the Best price, this is it, no questions asked, You will love it! Buy it...
