I got this jacket for the -40 in Northern Alberta. It has serious loft and does not pack down small.
It's light, super-warm, collar and insulated hood cover most of the face if fully closed. It basically feels like wearing a sleeping bag from the waist up. Loft tapers down at cuffs and below the waist.
The lighter exterior material on the torso doesn't feel as rip resistant as I would like. The zipper is quite balky and can take several attempts before betting both zips in and able to zip-up. It is a two direction zipper, which is fine, but the construction of it is not heavy enough to facilitate easy zipping.
Bottom line: it's the best deal out there for serious insulation, if you're willing to put up with the zipper.
