Needed a good quality pair of breathable pants for all around use. Will be wearing these with the right underlayers while hunting in conditions when long morning walks into backcountry will be followed by sitting and glassing...looks like a good fit. Will also be used over a pair of jeans in inclimate weather at work. Mammut makes great stuff, Sierra Trading Post makes Mammut affordable.

I have had a Mammut 3X dry shell for 5 years (purchased from STP). It wears like iron, washes up well and still looks new. I use it for hikes when temps are in the '30's, often with wind and light precip.
I also have REI brand Schoeller fabric pants and find them to be outstanding. I am told that REI has substituted another fabric in current versions, so that is why I got the Mammuts. Love the added protection at the seat and knees. Top quality product in every way.

I wore these pants on a recent climbing trip in the Cascades. They worked great. Dried quickly and repelled dirt well.

I wasn't sure about ordering after the reviews but I found them to be a perfect 38 waist and 32 length. I sometimes wear 36 pants and 38s are a little big but these work fine with the belt and waist band. These are truelly awesome pants, well made and super comfortable. They are very quiet too which is more important for hunting.

Very wide waist; very short length - I think you'd need to order 3 pairs smaller, regular and larger than normal to see what fits.
    • Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational
    • Length: Feels too short
    • Waist: Feels too big

About Mammut

Mammut is a Swiss-based producer of high-quality mountaineering, climbing and trekking equipment. The company’s history actually dates back to the mid-1800’s, beginning with a single rope maker named Kaspar Tanner. By the 1940’s, the brand had officially adopted the mammoth logo and name. Originally specializing in Mammut ropes, the well-known alpine gear company eventually grew its product line to include mountaineering boots, crampons, harnesses and hardware. By the 1990’s, the product selection had grown even further to include Mammut jackets, pants, sleeping bags, Mammut packs and a host of other premium-quality essentials for the outdoor enthusiast.
