Get Mammut gear if you have the money because it is AWESOME!!! It doesn't get much better than this BUT I think that you can get for a lot less gear that is NEARLY as good!

I bought this for my son. He has worn it skiing and snowboarding. He insists its warm, but it is hard to beleive since the lightweight material. He wears a north face fleece layer underneath. I am disapointed that at this price range there are no features ie: wrist and waist gaiter. He is happy with it.

I purchased the large and it did not fit at all. Was not impressed with the jacket overall. Did not seem like it was durable.

This jacket is a weather barrier on par with my Arcteryx Sidewinder AR. While it is a little lighter than I like for a winter jacket, I am very satisfied with it for a lighter weight backpacking jacket. Durability seems good for the weight. I have yet to use it in a downpour but water rolls off like a duck's back. I put the jacket under a two foot column of water for about five minutes without any moisture penetration (good enough at the very least for moderate rain). This jacket runs a little slim in the torso and arms, so if you have to pack yourself into other jackets, you might consider sizing up. Overall, no complaints.

This is a very nice jacket with nice features, namely the very long pit zips for dumping heat. The pockets, hood, etc. are all nice features. If I were looking to buy a HARD shell then I would have been totally happy with this purchase but this was supposed to be a soft shell. The material is not like a soft shell at all….not soft, no stretch. I already own a hard shell and was looking to buy as soft shell so I'm sending this back. It's a shame I'll have to pay to return something that is clearly not as advertised and described. I would only recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for a hard shell with nice pit zips and got a deep discount/coupon. Otherwise this coat is way overpriced.
