“Mammut always makes a great product, and this again fits the bill for their usual quality garment. The hood/neck zip is definitely made for taking on some face shots in the pow, but I have worn the jacket casually in the Jackson Hole fall rain lately. I have yet to test this thing to its full potential, but just from wearing it for about a week straight i can tell its not going to have any problems. Its athletically cut, but still just enough room to layer up on really cold days. They "hard shell" areas that are on the chest/sleeves/waist don't fell like a cheap, crunchy hardshell, they are the schoeller hard shell and feel more like a soft shell, but no question about their "water-proofness", the softshell mid section is really breathable and pretty water resistant with the nano-sphere tech. Bottom line, this thing is 100% functional tech. that will do the job in the back country and around town on a crumby day!”
