5.0 out of 5 stars. Great all around hiking bootReviewed by Dan from VIrginia on Sunday, February 23, 2014I bought these boots to replace a pair of 13 year old Raichle Mountain GTX boots I purchased in Germany. I was looking for a boot that would provide all day comfort during hiking and non-technical climbing activities. Knowing that Raichle was bought out by Mammut, and these boots are still made by the companies Romania location, I wanted to give them a try. After about 30 miles of use on terrain varying from sidewalks to forest trails and rock fields, I have been impressed by these boots. On hard surfaces, they have a bit of "heel toe" action due to their stiffness but as soon as you get on to gravel, fields or wooded trails, the boot starts to perform. the Ankle support coupled with the grip of the vibram sole provide the traction and support for flat, inclined or un-even terrains. On rocks and other surfaces that don't provide much room for error, the boot provided excellent grip and support for even the most precarious foot holds. I have used them in rain, snow and dry conditions and my feet have been comfortable, dry and warm. I would definitely recommend these boots for these types of activities.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice hiking boot but runs small.Reviewed by smokykoko from Harrisburg, PA on Wednesday, December 4, 2013I did not get to hike in these because the sizing runs small and they are out of a larger size for me. I normally wear a size 12 or 12.5 hiking boot. Size 13 is usually too large. I ordered these in a size 12.5 and it feels more like a size 11.5 especially in volume. The insert is very thin so if you replace the insert with another brand you lose even more volume. Other than the sizing it looked like a well made boot on the stiff and heavy side. A pair of 12.5 weighed in at 4 lbs. The stiffiness was on par to be used as hiking with a pack vs. a softer day hike side wall.
