Very happy with the purchase. I will live in this whilst I'm in Nepal for a month this winter.

I bought this for cold snowy days, cold weather and outdoor spectator sports. I might use for downhill skiing, but it would be too warm/bulky for cross country/back country. I'm a size 6 and the small fits perfectly. Style wise it's okay, not super fitted to a womans figure, but fine - it is after all a puffy down coat. If you're self conscious about looking puffy, you may not like it as much. I love the twilight color (periwinkle) but the dull gray lining isn't quite as pretty. Overall a great value. Mammut quality is consistently excellent.

Note of caution: this Mammut jacket uses European sizing. I am US size 4 (34"-25"-36" in chest-waist-hips) and, with only one exception to-date, I buy Mammut in size S which I believe corresponds with US sizes 4-6. This is a very nice and simple down jacket (note that it's not only 650 fill but also 90% down – that's very good). The hood is bigger (fit for a helmet) and has no adjustments; I wish it had some. I plan on wearing this down jacket under Mammut's Adamello shell. Bottom line: it's a good down jacket.

  • Question “What does the number of fill represent? Is a higher number warmer or colder- i.e. 650 vs. 850?|Thanks”
Asked on 7/26/2011 12:00:00 AM by Laura from Bainbridge Island, WA
    • Answer Yes, the higher the number means more fill power for a fluffier, warmer jacket, so 850 would be warmer than 650.
