“This really is a technically sound jacket. Waterproof part is 3 layer and very durable but not stiff. Softshell/fleece-lined part is comfortable, stretchy and not too thick or thin. The jacket would be superb for backcountry skiing. I am returning it because of two things: I ski trees a lot and the softshell material( although most likely durable enough) may easy be poked through with a stiff tree branch and secondly because the hood adjustment is a bit awkward. I wear a helmet and still had to pull the elastic pretty taught before I felt like the hood was snug enough to not get blown off by the wind...this ended up leaving long elastic tassels dangling on the outside of the jacket and I figure they might end up slapping me in the face on the way down the mountain. If you don't need a hood on most trips...the jacket would work superb. I'd imagine it to be incredibly breathable and very waterproof. I am not sure it would be very wind proof through the soft shell material though. Love the bright yellow color and the fit. I am usually small size but ordered a large in this to fit layers and it fit fantastic.”
