    This jacket is overall 5 start quality. However, I knocked it down a star because it was not exactly what I was hoping for my purpose. It is a bit bulkier than I was expecting, which means it's a bit warmer than I was expecting (some people might want this). I was hoping it would be a good jacket to wear under a technical shell on cold ski hill days; it may suit this purpose on really, really cold days but anything other than the coldest day i think it might be too bulky to wear under a shell. It's likely a good outter layer for cold back coutry touring days. It would be fine as an outlayer for not too cold days at the ski hill lift riding. However, it is a stylish jacket that I am sure will be useable for me in many ways and I got a great price so I will keep it. I would note that I am generally a "hot" person (in the sense that I heat up quickly) so for someone who is often cold this might not seem so bulkly. Size medium is a bit roomy (5'5" 140 lbs) but generally true to size.

    I purchased this jacket from Sierra two winters ago for winter bicycle commuting in New England. It has held up to the test as well as general winter wear and hikes and has replaced my down jackets due to its warmth, versatility, durability, and light weight. I am pondering buying another to have for years to come! It does have long arms, which is perfect for me at 5'8" but may be tough for a petite person.
