This jacket is designed as a belay jacket; think of it as an outdoor overcoat and buy it to fit accordingly. Also be aware that it is sized for Europeans so the average American or Canadian may have to order one size larger. Having said that I recommend it without reservation. It is sturdy, warm, compressible, and stylish. A great all purpose insulating jacket; get one!

I tried this coat on in the store, so I knew it was small for it's sizing. I am a size Medium WOMAN. Also, I wanted the coat a little big so I could layer and for a bit longer body. This coat is far superior to it's competitors on the market: the Patagonia Das Parka and Mountain Hardwear Subzero Parka. The hood is fantastic, it's lightweight...and it's WARM. I wear this in Alaska as my primary layer for standing outside in 30below. Too bad the other two jackets get such 'ad appeal'. Mammut did something good here.

I am always cold, not anymore, this jacket works better than my 800 down parka. Its stops the wind, has flattering side panels, and long sleeves with key hole thumb holes. On another review it said they run small, so I got a XL, and have plenty of room, being 6 ft 200 lbs. Ive been overheated more than once, and for someone who is COLD thats truely kind of neat. The hood fits fine over wool cap or ballcap. The pockets have a fleece lining that keeps hands warm too. Looking forward to the cold windy days in the field first time I'll be comfortable.

Solid buy! The hood fits great, but won't fit over a ski helmet. Would like a few vents in the torso section. Gonna keep you warm, but might not be too water res.

My wife is always cold, I had a status like this but from a few years ago. I saw the new ones, and had to get one, and of course one for my wife, we are both extremely satisfied as always with any product from Mammut. If your cold often, and hate the bulk look of down, or puff this is your jacket.

Absolutely wonderful. Fits like a charm - European sizing - so smaller than American sizing. Feels very warm and comfortable and completely worth the [$].

Rather puffy, looks like it would be very warm, has alot more filling than other synthetic jackets. The single pull hood cinch that Mammut uses does not work well on the Stratus jacket,(I have a Mammut Blackburn from STP and the single pull cinch works ok, not great, with it), it does not tighten the hood around the head/face, only pulls the hood back, about eye level, away from the face, really poor design. Otherwise looks like a good jacket. I only say it runs small, as it is ero sized which tend to be made on the trim side. I order all ero clothing a size larger. I returned it due to the hood.
