This jacket was puffer than expected, and so, it is not great for layering under a hard shell (to tight in the arms). but is great a belay jacket. May be warm enough to replace a down jacket for warmth, but not as lite or compressable, so i would not recommend for back country.

i use this product for winter backcountry trips. i live in alaska and keeps me comfortable and warm in the winter. the zipper are great. and thumb holes are in the perfect spot. and xs mens fits me perfectly even though i am a women.

Great outer or mid insulating layer, slightly long for me, perfect for nonactive roles.

bought the jacket for cragin belay jacket/ all around cold weather rig. So far so good, being synthetic its a fair bit heavier than my down and compresses less; but for synthetic it is not bad, slightly heavier than the DAS still. Love the huge internal pockets for warming gloves ect. Exterior pockets are adequite, double zipper is nice for accessing that buried belay loop. For the price it seems like a real decent jacket, perhaps wont being seeing serious alpine time but will work well as my craggin, all arounder. Only complaints- could be lighter and could have left out the thumb loops (Just a personal thing- nothing really wrong with them). Im 6'1" 150lbs, ordered XL. Fits well over R1 hoody and softshell. Fairly bagy over just a t-shirt.

Havent had this jacket for very long but it seems great! European sizing, so remember to size up. I usually wear an XL went with XXL here and it seems perfect. I'm 6'3" 205lbs., if that helps. Sierra Trading Post comes through with yet another, Great Buy!

If you need a well made, compressible, somewhat water resistant and above all practical cold weather jacket it would behoove you to give this serious consideration. In regards to sizing the the thumb loops are a nice addition but the sleeves are a tad too short for them to be used for any extended time. Remember to size up from your normal size as this is a euro cut. And if you plan to layer extensively perhaps two sizes up. I'm 6'2", 165lbs and have a 36" sleeve and bought the XL. I suppose if I had a lower ape index the thumb loops would function normally but as it is the sleeve is comes just shy of mid palm. And I doubt the sleeve would be any longer on the XXL. All in all a super warm, functional and well made jacket for cold conditions.
