Great jacket as an outer layer for harsher weather or great standalone jacket in the spring/fall. Cant beat the price from Sierra trading.

I used this Jacket for showshoes hiking. Weather conditions changed fast from mild to cold and windy. Adjustment of the configuration of the jacket was fast and efficient. This is a very good product. At that price, it is excellent

Love Mammut gear! This jacket is no exception. Only thing I don't care for is the side ventilation zippers. They seem to be a bit excessive. No prob though. I just won't use them! All my friends are jealous bc I got such a good deal on it!

I like the idea of this jacket. I like the color and the fit as well. I found the athletic cut of the Medium to be really flattering to my physique. That said, there are a few unforgivable things about this jacket that forced me to decide that it wasn't worth the money, and send it back. First, it has no drawcord hem at the waist. For a jacket that is supposed to block wind, this feature would be idea. Second, the LONG pit zips have no wind flap behind them. If you lift your arm up, wind blows right through the zipped or unzipped zipper and chills you. Also, without a flap behind the pit zip you have to be careful or it will snag on the layer underneath it. Third, the thumb holes in the cuffs are stupid. I realize they were trying to make a cool feature, but a cuff with a velcro adjustment would have been perfect for this jacket. Fourth, the material is not at all durable. It is paper thin, and every time it touches something you will be afraid that it's going to rip. The zippers, while being YKK, are very hard to start and prone to sticking. So, my main problems with this jacket were based on the fact that it provides several entry points for cold wind, while purporting to be a windproof jacket. I just don't feel like it is worth the money. If it were a sub-100 dollar jacket, maybe.

The color is good. The comfort is good, too. I do not yet understand how much thermal insulation performance there is.

Jacket is well made with nice, lightweight Windstopper Soft Shell material. The extra long pit zips are awesome and will provide ultimate venting control. Java color looks good. I purchased a Large. At 5'10" and 185 lbs. it was just a little too tight through the shoulders and torso was a bit shorter than I like. Sleeve length, however, was perfect for me. The fit/cut was as described but I like a little more room in my jackets so I will have to try an XL. Haven't had a chance to test it outside yet but the features of the jacket are exactly what I've been looking for: Lightweight, non-insulated, wind stopping, hood, pit zips, thumb loops, inside pocket, outside hand pockets, articulated elbows. Nice jacket. Can't wait to put it to the test outdoors.

This is a great softshell. It is slightly thinner than some other more rugged Mammut softshells, but still 100% windproof, and at least 95% waterproof (I beleive prolonged exposure would leave you wet, but can't confirm, yet). Best part of this jacket is the mobility and fit. As any thinner athletic type knows, finding the right length often means too baggy on the torso and/or shoulders - not in this case. Mammut is more typical of European sizing, and therefore slimmer. Alone it fits me great, but I still have room for a down vest to add warmth.

Check the details on the sizes. I usually wear an M, but the L fits perfectly. The thumb holes are a nice touch, and it is quite resistant to water. I have other Windstopper products, and can't say enough about how much this helps cut out the chill that wind can bring.

Other stores (and Mammut themselves) call this "Ultimate hoody" but STP uses the more appropriate "jacket" term. The reason I say this is because most people think of a hoody as something made of soft cotton or fleece..this is windstopper softshell with jacketlike features. First of all, the jacket is very thin and light and should definitely have warm layers underneath in really cold weather. Which brings me to another point..even though Mammut is a European company, their jackets seem to be cut slightly larger than the European norm which is good if you intend to layer. For example if you normally wear M and order L because of the Euro-size issue, you will find that the body is a bit looser than you expect and the sleeves may be too long. Speaking of which, the sleeve length doesn't bother me too much but the fact that the cuffs are fairly wide and have no elastic or velcro cinches may be an issue for some. Thumb loops are provided to make a good glove interface however. Now, other than the softshell material, this jacket differs from a normal hoody in that it has a fully adjustable hood, and loooong 2way pitzips that extend all the way to the hem. I'm not sure how useful that will be for my purposes..but cool nonetheless. Overall, very stylish and functional for hiking, biking and maybe spring skiing...but not really a heavy weather jacket. I recommend if you need such a jacket then buy this one. I may be biased since I fell in love with Mammut products during a trip to Switzerland a few years ago when I bought a pair of climbing pants. Every Mammut piece may not be the absolute best in it's category (and sometimes bizarre design choices)...but they always give you quality, function and style at a fair price.
