These gloves are warm, windproof and waterproof. Took them out on a storm day and they did well. not so sure about wicking moisture away though. That's why I'm not sure about backcountry use. After I took them off for an outdoor lunch, I couldn't tell if they were slightly moist from perspiration on the inside or if they were just cool to the touch. They work well when on your hands though. They feel a little tight or restrictive in the extension, but hold a great grip. I'm hoping they loosen up just a bit as the leather wears in. It's not bad, just more difficult to one hand catch a ski pole someone tosses you. They are a bit beefier than my old gloves, so I'm adjusting to that, but great padding and protection. You can bat away small tree limbs without hesitation. It's what Mad Max might wear if he went skiing. For [$], you can't go wrong. I may even pick up another pair.

Haven't had long enough to give evaluation. Seems to be very good quality, the little finger curves down, but if this is a ski glove it may be the way it should be. I read the reviews before I purchased. It does seem to run small. I usually wear a small but ordered a medium because of the review. I have long fingers but they do fit. I couldn't have used a small. I have Reynaud's syndrom so I doubt if any glove will completely keep my fingers warm, but these did a pretty good job for about 30 minutes. This is longer than any other glove I have worn.

I took the Manzella Commander Ski Gloves skiing and with temperatures dipping into the low teens with winds whipping the tops of the mountains; the gloves were rendered useless against such elements. I had to make an emergency stop at the local ski shop and find gloves that better protected against frigid temperatures. After about two hours on the ski slopes my fingers were pinging with pain as frost nip set in. It is more a mild weather glove and the articulated fingers makes manipulating ski poles a cinch. Plus they look really cool. Since they fit so snugly I couldn't put a fleece liner glove in them so if you are thinking about doing that to make them warm go up in size. I'll save them for spring skiing but for harsh winter cold I can't recommend these gloves.

I ordered these gloves for skiing but am returning them because they are much too small. I ordered a womens large and the fingers are too short and fit snugly. I would need an x large or a man's small.

These fit, but they are form-fitting. I bought the Large and normally I buy a Large or X-Large in women's gloves. Very warm!
