Closeouts. Marc New York's Spanish Shearling coat is a unique piece you'll treasure for years. Marc New York uses the finest lambskins that have been gently treated for minimum disturbance of their natural elegance.
I was very excited to find such a bargain on a genuine shearling coat...however as I thought it was too good to be true..it is so heavy that I do not have to go back to gym..the zipper and the stitching is poor quality for such an expensive jacket....

marc ny (the shabby step-brother of andrew marc ny) lambskin coats will invariably keep you warm in any climate except sub-zero weather; however, the coats do not exhibit the attention to detail that a 1k+ coat should. true, by virtue of the fact that shearling coats are by definition the skin and fur of the animal, bulk is assumed but not soviet-era gulag styling. it fits (and looks)more like a heavy sack than a top-of-the-line tailored shearling coat (e.g., exposed zippering, cheaply made metal fasteners, absolutely no contouring, etc.) the fur is also not as silky as it can be given proper processing (though it is soft but not 1k+ soft!) the exterior leather is supple and satisfactorily dyed and treated, i would n-e-v-e-r pay the suggested retail for this coat. it is however, worth what stp charges on clearance.

Well made. Surprisingly light, yet warm. Good temperature range, although probably not as warm as a heavier coat in frigid weather. I wear a 42L and it fits right, but it would probably also fit a 42R. Good cut, not too big around the middle for my 35 inch waist. Probably OK for someone up to a 38 inch waist. Zipper easier to use than buttons when it's cold and you're wearing gloves.

I bought this coat for winter wear in W. Washington, where the climate can get cold but not frigid. It's replacing a much heavier sheepskin I wore when living in a much colder place. I wear a 42L and it fits just right; should fit a 42R also. Cut is straight, so cold air won't scoot up from the bottom. That means, however, that it might be too tight around the stomach for portly gents. Surprisingly light, not the chain-mail weight of many sheepskin coats. (When the UPS driver handed me the small, light box, I wondered if Sierra had sent the wrong item.) High quality workmanship throughout, especially fleece and outer leather. Zipper is well sewn-in and easier to close and adjust than buttons in cold weather. Its big toggle is easy to grasp with gloves-- far easier to zip all the way to the top than fastening a top button would be. Understated, simple design and non-bulky look won't have people wondering where you tied up your horse.

The fleece was so fine that at first we we thought it was a high-quality synthetic. We called customer support who assured us it was real, but its nicer than any fleece I've ever seen. The only unexpected characteristic is that the leather is rather delicate. This was a purchase for my father who intends to wear it in Paris in January, cold and possibly drizzly. He said he will wear a waterproof shell over top if it rains heavily.
