Have only had a chance to dry cast in the back yard, but the rod casts well for short distances. Easy to assemble, and seem to be a quality product, time will tell.

I used this rod for a pack trip into the Sierras, and since it had minimal weight and broke down so well, it was easy to transport. I used it to fish both lakes and small streams, and it worked well for both. It doesn't throw the line out very far for lake fishing (but it is only a 7 ft. 4 wt) but you shouldn't buy this rod expecting it to! Highly recommended. Very accurate rod and highly adjustable to your fishing needs.

This is the rod I sleep with. I own a few MB's already and they really have it pegged with this little shorty when it comes to small streams and sneaking smooth penetrations in through the vegitations. My little darlin purs like a kitten and even goes the distances when I want it to (50+ feet despite the size-- try it!) Anyway March Brown as a company is far and away the most responsive to the man that I've found in all my days fly fishing so I just leave the dozens of other company rods I own to collecting dust.

I've had this rod for a while now, and it's my go-to rod for small streams. great action.
