Bought a 7pc rod from March Brown about 5 years ago. First trip out a fish managed to break rod tip-the company replaced the rod tip with no questions asked. I like the feel of the new rod but have not had a chance to try it out. If it works as well as 1st one I will be very pleased.

I bought my March Brown Hidden Water 9' 4 weight over a year ago to use for backcountry lakes and streams. On my first test cast I discovered it rockets a WF4F line 60' easily with my mediocre casting skills, and that's well beyond the ability to mend. A 10" fish puts a nice bend in the rod but it has more than enough power to safely land a fish twice that size and protect light tippets so it has become my dry fly rod of choice for big or small water without a thick rainforest jungle up to the water's edge and overhanging trees. With 6 ferrules the rod is slightly heavy for a 4 weight, yet when balanced with my 5.6 oz RLS 1 reel the swing weight is still light enough to be a joy to cast and fish with all day. The two reviews by CW mention a defect for not being able to shorten the rod by removing the 2nd lower section, but neither review mentions which rod was purchased. The March Brown website states only the 6'6"/5'6" 3 weight and 7'0"/6'0" 4 weight rods have the "Convertible" feature where one section of the rod can be removed. Reviews also mention alignment dots are mispositioned. I see March Brown now has a $35 fee for repairs but I found their ""No Excuse Necessary" LIFETIME GUARANTEED. 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" Customer Support to be excellent for two problems; including one admitted totally bonehead user-caused, that were non-rod defect or breakage issues and suggest contacting the MFG at the number on their website to ask if a true mfg defect can be resolved without the payment.

This is my second attempt to review this rod and make customers aware of the flaws. STP blocked my last review, for no reason I can see other than a negative review of the rod, and I imagine they will block this review since it points out flaws in the rod and in STP. I emailed STP with my questions and concerns and received a very condescending and truly unprofessional response. Such as, "First things first..." and This is not going to fly".... Bottom line - Clearly some of the rods have defects with the dots lining up. STP's response "it takes time to align the dots". I suppose they feel I am an idiot and there is no possibility there may be a defect. Also, March Brown list a feature of this rod where one can remove the last rod piece to shorten the rod. When I asked STP if mine was a defect etc. they accused me of making it up and stated this was not a feature. Buyer beware - these rods does not have this feature. Even though March Brown states these rods have this feature, STP refuses to do any research on this matter. Again, I guess STP feels they always accurately list all features of products.
