Used the tent this weekend for the first time. Very easy to set-up. Very packable for an adventure motorcycle. Weather was good, so I don't know about ability in the rain, but all of the tent seams appear to be of high quality.

There is no footprint; I used a cheap 8x10 tarp. The short side of t... Read More

ok, so i reviewed this tent before and I'm reviewing it again. I still give it 5 stars, because I love the tent, but, it is clearly for specific applications and some of the specs on STP are just not correct.

1: there is no way this tent is 93x66" sized on the floor. I just set ours up and tape measured and i got 62" on the floor from seam to seam (and those seams are off the ground when tent is pitched, so realistic numbers are in the high 50's) also, its not 93" long inside. BUT, that said, its a super comfy 2 person tent. 3 people? you'd be working very hard to get 3 x 20" sleeping pads in there at all... maybe two adults and an infant or a pet (pets count as people, right?) Still, you can sit up comfortably in this tent, and it is a fantastic 2 person option.

2: 6lbs 2oz is a wishful thinking number, and if you include stakes and lines and a footprint, you're going to be well over 7 lbs. BUT... you can leave stuff sacks at home and get it bare bones it MIGHT get close to that number. Also, we just set it up in our back yard with the footprint (not included), fly, and poles only and then you have a sub 4 lb roomy shelter. Of course, this style is quite exposed with no bug or critter protection and water could splash in under the fly as well, but the option does exist.

3: I've taken this tent to backcountry Alaska (yeah, it was heavy) and the backcountry in the PNW and its a great tent. It's a great car camping and heavier but roomy backcountry option. it's also a *super* quick, simple set up, good protection from the elements, has a durable build and is priced extremely well for what it is.

We will probably get a lighter, tighter, more expensive backpacking tent, but this is a solid tent and we will likely keep it as well. we may even opt to carry it in our packs when we want extra room and don't have a ton of other heavy gear to take. so, still 5 stars, but take the weight/space measurements with a giant grain of salt.

I finally used my new tent on a campout recently. It was great. It was my 8yo son and me,so it was plenty spacious for the 2 of us. Set up was a breeze, and it withstood some pretty heavy rain and wind through the night, all while keeping us dry. I can't wait to use or again. Would definitely be tight with 3 people.

Bought the tent to get a little more space than my 2 person Moss tent. It fits the bill perfectly. One pole was damaged when I initially set it up. Called STP and they sent me a new one (with upgraded shipping and no cost return). I am always impressed with companies that stand behind their products like that!

My husband and I bought this tent for weekend backpacking. Very glad we got the three person tent because it gives us just enough room for us and our bags, etc. The tent is super simple to assemble and the rainfly is easy to attach, it even comes color coated for quick set-up. We used this tent overnight in >15mph wind gusts and more than 4 hours of thunderstorms and the tent held up and stayed dry. This tent comes with seams taped, I don't think the product description mentions this. We are beyond happy with the tent and can't wait to use it many more times.

I'm a very experience packer, camper. I have over 7 tents, each serving a primary purpose. From $99. Camping to $850. Base camps.
The Ajax 3 is Guarnteed for life under Marmots guarantee.
The tent floor is thicker and extremely more waterproof than other tents in this price range. Never had a tent so easy and fast to set up. Tent seemed very light out of the Box. Remind yourself that lighter tents are not better tents. They are lighter.
The Dac poles we're adequate and the fly seemed thicker, durable then others in this class. Large door openings. The interior space is very roomy and the length is longer than tents in this class and price range.
The Rubber clips on tent for pole attachment make set up extremely fast and easy. I thought at first they were cheap design. After realizing in extreme weather they would always be flexible to work with and would act as a dampening effect in high winds. Tent stakes are very stout and are a anadize orange color. Only 9 stakes I received. Would of been nice to have 12.
So for a Buck Fifty, you can't go wrong with this tent. My first impression was this I could take this Backpacking. But I bought it for just me for car camping. And if my wife joins me there is still plenty of room.
Cons of the tent are there is no foot print. But for around $45 there are other Marmot footprints that fit. For me I will use a $9 tarp. The other drawback are the vestibule area is smaller but not a deal breaker. Need extra tent stakes for guide lines Ect.
The Pumkin Orange color I actually like. I will be called a Pumkin by my friends but I'm a proud owner of my Pumkin and you should be too!
