Must buy product from Marmot. Very nice lightweight Gore-Tex jacket with some warmth built in. I also find this Gore-Tex to be more quiet than other Gore-Tex jackets. Nice plus to have detachable hood. A very comfortable jacket to wear. I'm 6'4" 227 with 35" sleeve and this jacket in XL was perfect. Buy it!

I have ordered two of these Marmot jackets, one for each vehicle I have and ordered one liner to switch between the two depending on which vehicle I drive. This particular jacket is a cornice and is one of the better jackets made by Marmot, it fits large but I purchased it due to the way it fits so I can put the liner in and layer my clothing. I love Gore-Tex products due to the efficentcy they have at keeping me dry and warm, even without a liner. Marmot makes a variety of jackets and some do not fit even if I order the same size I ordered for this jacket. Out of all the jackets I have had this Marmot Gore-Tex jacket is a excellant jacket, even without a liner. The hood is detachable or you can roll it up and it fits into the collar area of the jacket also the hood is made of the same thickness of the jacket which I like also, most jackets where the hood rolls up is usually thiner so it fits better into the collar area. I appreciate Marmot making the hood the same thickness as the rest of the jacket and I have found nothing bad to report on this particular jacket. I would recommend this jacket for anyone that goes hiking, back[...]ng or just walking on a street in the middle of a city.

The Marmot Cornice shell performs well in wind and rain, is light weight and looks great. I wear it around town in the worst weather from 30 degree temps on up. Paired with a sweater or fleece, the shell is very warm and the Goretex frabric breathes well.

I was pleasantly surprised. Despite its light weight, the jacket has kept me warm on some cold days. Would definitely recommend for purchase. Love the blue colour in the jacket I bought. Have received many compliments on the jacket.

I was looking for a relatively lightweight, waterproof, city wear jacket that was warm enough to get me through moderately cold and rainy winter weather. The Marmot Cornice does this and more. It's waterproof, windproof, and with the internal lining is more than sufficient for temperatures in the 30s. Moreover, the fit is such that it's easy to layer, making the jacket suitable for much lower temperatures as well. The only thing I don't like is the hood - its huge. So I generally wear the jacket without it.

  • Question “Is there any difference between the Cornice jacket and the Palisades jacket??”
Asked on 3/2/2011 12:00:00 AM by Jim from Louisville, KY
    • Answer There are slight differences with the pockets and the fit. They have mostly the same features though.
Answered on 3/10/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer I just spoke with Marmot customer care on the phone. He said that they are the same jacket, just that the Palisades is 2-color and the Cornice is 1-color. Same construction, different color choices.
Answered on 3/25/2011 12:00:00 AM by drippydrop from Colorado Springs, CO
    • Answer Same product but only one color rather than two.

  • Question “I am 6'4" 225 lbs. I like a more athletic fit. Should I go large or will the sleeves be too short? Does anybody know what the sleeve length is for large?”
Asked on 2/14/2011 12:00:00 AM by jwhit from state college, PA
    • Answer It may be slightly snug with layers. The sleeves should be fine as they are longer.

  • Question “What size would you recommend ,5"9 173lbs ,chest 41,Some say this runs true to size,One said this ran large! Please help!!”
Asked on 2/6/2011 12:00:00 AM by jack from clarence new york
    • Answer I am pretty much exactly your size. I'm 5'9" and 180. I, too, have 41" chest and 34 waist. I ordered both Large and Medium so I could compare. I felt more comfortable in the Large while wearing a T-shirt, heavy weight henley over the T and a fleece. The Medium was a bit too snug with all that underneath. That said, I'm certain the Large will be a bit big when wearing just a T but I have other shells for milder weather. I returned the Medium. Oh, one more thing. I wear a 33 sleeve in a dress shirt. Clearly sleeve lengths on Large size anything are always going to be long. That's the case with this jacket but not overly long and plenty of velcro to cinch the sleeves tight. Hope this helps you out.

Asked on 12/5/2010 12:00:00 AM by PD from EUROPE
    • Answer The hood does zip off of this jacket. There is one pocket on the inside, two hand pockets and a chest pocket. The colors available are listed.

  • Question “Is there a specific fleece that will zip into the jacket to add another layer?”
Asked on 11/30/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Atlanta, GA
    • Answer You can use any zip in coat that you like, it may differ in size and length slightly but will still work.
Answered on 12/5/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer The ONLY coats that will Zip into this shell are the Cauldron and the Approach. My Marmot Zeus puffy coat will not zip into the Cornice Shell or the Palisades Shell. Different # of zipper teeth per inch.
Answered on 3/25/2011 12:00:00 AM by drippydrop from Colorado Springs, CO
    • Answer If this is indeed the same as the palisades you may have luck using columbia interchange coats as well. I use an old columbia fleece in my palisades. It does not line up 100% at the top but it works fine.

  • Question “Does this product have an extra zipper (& perhaps something at the sleeve cuff), to permit zipping in a fleece or down jacket as a liner, essentially creating what they call either a 'Component Jacket', a 'Triclimate jacket', or a '3 in 1 Jacket'?”
Asked on 11/18/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Eastern Shore of Maryland
    • Answer This jacket does have a zip in compatible zipper. The sleeves are a touch fasten velcro closure, but have the loop on the inside to button the liner in to the sleeve.

  • Question “This jacket has an inner zipper. Is it compatible with any of the other jackets available for sale?”
Asked on 11/17/2010 12:00:00 AM by Harold from Unknown
    • Answer You can place any zip in compatible liner you would like. It just may vary slightly with length of body of sleeves.

  • Question “does this jacket accept zip-in liners?”
