Marmot makes all kinds of down clothing and this jacket is just one of many that they have to choose from.650 down filled is probably in the middle range of their selection,850 to 900 being the most. This jacket with a Marmot down vest and a precip outerwear will most likely protect you and your clothing from not only the weather but limbs and things like cat-claw.

Great jacket, arm length and chest ran small. Too bad, my hubby really liked it but it was passed down to one of my sons.

I was looking for a zip in liner for a Marmot parka with a liner YKK zipper. This will work okay, but the liner zipper pull isn't reversible to act as a liner. Otherwise, my red down jacket is warm and beautiful, as a stand alone coat. Thick and roomy, this coat fits well and has all the features you want for the winter mountain snow sports activities.

I got this jacket for my boyfriend and he loves it. It is warm yet lightweight. He is tall and the length fits well while the width is tapered slightly, not boxy. Nice color and details like the lined collar and covered zippers. Great value!!

  • Question “I want a down jacket to fit under my Marmot Palisades gore-tex shell. Is this zip in compatible? My shell is XL and very roomy, would the XL Guides Down Jacket fit or do I need to size down?”
Asked on 12/8/2012 12:00:00 AM by cjayflo from Unknown
    • Answer It should be zip compatible it has the right kind of zipper. I would say order your normal size, a size down may not fit your shell right.

  • Question “What is the definition of "Fill Power?, and why don't you have temperature ratings for winter coats?”
Asked on 11/21/2011 12:00:00 AM by Bob from Parker, CO
    • Answer Fill power is a measure of the loft or "fluffiness" of a down product that is loosely related to the insulating value of the down. The higher the fill power the more insulating air pockets the down has and the better insulating ability. Most manufacturers do not have temperature ratings for their garments due to the number of factors that affect how warm a garment may keep you. This item is designed to be used as a layering piece. The following buying guides may offer some insight to help you dress properly for any environment.
