Great jacket. I keep is stuffed in my pack or jersey pocket for those cool down hill sections after a long climb on the bike. Perfect for adding a little wind protection or keeping the chill from a light drizzle away.

This jacket is seriously cool! It is very lightweight, can be folded/wrapped up or smooshed into something small! It is awesome when you just need a little something on a breezy/windy day, or when it might drizzle out! It seriously WON'T keep you warm if it's cold outside, but that isn't what this jacket is for. It's great, super lightweight wind jacket!

I've been wearing this jacket over a long sleeve tech shirt for a bit of light rain/snow protection and wind resistance. It's extremely light and it's cut so it clings to the body. I carry my phone in the chest pocket in case of emergencies and I like the fact that it doesn't bounce around. I like this jacket so much I'll be buying another in a different color.

I should probably buy 3 more.
Super light. Super cheap (on sale). Super packable. Perfect weight for protection from wind and light rain. Far more breathable than the much more expensive jackets I own. It is really, pretty much the perfect lightweight jacket for running/hiking.

The Marmot Ion is quite comparable to Patagonia's Houdini for about a third of the price from STP. It offers impressive protection from wind and light rain and breathes reasonably well. It's not going to keep you dry in a real downpour or breathe as well as a typical wicking top but it strikes a very good balance and is so light and packable, it's hard to justify not throwing it in your daypack just in case. A real bargain for the price.

Good but fits small. I had to return and reorder a larger size than normal.

  • Question “How breathable do you find this jacket to be when active”
Asked on 12/14/2014 10:36:13 PM by Ol' Comfy Bottoms from West of the Great Laramie Divide
    • Answer Very breathable, never clammy, soft and flexible against the skin.
Answered on 12/15/2014 12:25:22 AM by Pacific Rider from SF Bay Area
    • Answer It's plenty breathable but will get soaked if you sweat a lot, like I do when running. After a windy run, I notice it dries very fast when I'm cooling down and still outdoors. I've done some runs in it when in the 30F's and windy and I really like the way it takes the sting out of a cold wind and yet I stay cool and comfortable inside. Like the hoody to protect my ears from biting wind. Perfect for what I bought it for........super lightweight wind protection and stores down to virtually nothing when packing it on a trip and space limited. I live in Central TX, so days in the 20F's are rare, so haven't tested it in very cold conditions........would wear appropriate layers underneath for very cold.

    • Answer I find the jacket to be moderately breathable. It's light weight and wind-resistant and well constructed.

    • Answer Hard to say, since I'm not sure how to objectively rate breathability and I got it after most of the warmer weather had passed for the season. Its extremely light weight (the merest shell) and has rather open mesh under the arms and at the back of the neck. The couple of times I did wear it, I wasn't doing anything very strenuous.

That's the best I can do, other than to add that its very thin/lightweight and its of high quality.

    • Answer Its not especially loose fitting. I wear a medium and I just now tried it on with just a short sleeve T shirt. It fit fine and looked fine. There was some extra room, but not a lot. I'd say you could wear something a little heavier than a T shirt under it, but I wouldn't think you could wear anything too bulky under it. All depends on what you plan to wear under it and if you size up, presumably the sleeves and length will still be right for you. Hope this answered your question. This jacket is a nice shell, average roominess, but especially roomy though.

    • Answer Not a snug fit. I would buy your regular size.

    • Answer Yes. Buy up one size. The arms are generous but it is slim waist. I got a Medium and the waist is most likely 32-33" at the bottom. Great jacket, though. It breathes well, packs up small and has some style to it.
