5.0 out of 5 stars. Great Jacket!

I live in Boston, and this winter has been extremely cold and wet. The down jacket that I had been wearing wasn't keeping me dry, so I started the search for a waterproof winter jacket. Since getting this jacket, I haven't worn my other one! It's warm, waterproof and as stylish as it can be while still being really functional. For reference, I am 5'6, 130 pounds and I got the medium. It fits comfortably, with ample room for sweaters and other winter top layers. Would definitely recommend!

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Jacket

This is more like a raincoat than a jacket.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. A lot that I like but do not like the velcro instead of snaps!

I love the style, length, zippered pockets and that it is waterproof. My opinion is still out on if it will be warm enough. It seems very light weight and I get cold easy. The one thing that I do not like is the velcro instead of snaps at the front zipper. I wore the coat with knit gloves and a scarf and they kept getting stuck in the velcro. I have another Marmot raincoat that I got last year and it has real snaps, I was very disappointed since I put my gloves and scarf on before I put my coat on. This makes it very hard to close and open the velcro with knit gloves on. May have to get another kind of glove. If I could have given this a 3 1/2 overall rating I would.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Nice but not right for me.

This is a great jacket--rich aubergine color, soft non-shiny fabric, warm insulation. The waist can be cinched in for a parka effect, which I like. And it has a sturdy, cooperative, smooth-sliding front zipper, the best I have encountered on outerwear. But I returned the jacket, for two reasons. The first was that the underarm areas rose rather high, slightly squeezing my arms and restricting their range of motion--not a lot, but enough to be distracting. Given that lack of room where the arm meets the jacket body, I doubt anyone could wear thick tops or layers under this jacket. The second reason is that the body of the jacket, though a true small in width, seems rather long. The back hem extended halfway down my thighs and the cinched-in waist sat two inches below mine. Clearly I would need a petite in this jacket, if it existed. I am 5'3" tall and weigh 110 pounds, and I happen to have a long torso and short legs. Standard size small tops and coats usually fit me. Ironically, the arm length on this jacket was perfect. Go figure!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Cute Jacket, but it won't be warm enough for a MN winter

I liked the jacket, but returned it because I need a thicker industrial-grade winter jacket for Minnesota. I already felt a chill in my arms 1 min after walking out in it (I had a sweater, tee, and long underwear on underneath). This is a better early winter/fall coat.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
