The jacket description does not make it clear that it _does_ have pit zips (an absolute necessity, in my opinion). The jacket fits well, does a great job of keeping you dry and warm, packs small, and is great for hiking. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend (or to buy another!).

Very nice light to medium weight rain jacket. Ordered large and it was a little narrow at hips. Returned for xl and Sierra shipped pronto! Great service.

Very comfortable, light, and attractive. I usually take a small, but this was quite trim fitting and little constraining around the hips, so I went with a medium, which has the added benefit of being roomy enough to allow for a sweater or light down jacket when it gets chilly.

Exceptional quality. Very nice, medium weight. As always, service from Sierra Trading Post was the best.

My old Gore-Tex jacket died and I've been looking for a replacement for ages. In Oregon, it's a staple. This one fit perfectly in a medium -- I'm 5'3", 125. Room for a light fleece underneath, but fitted enough to look nice. I'll get a ton of use out of it, and the bright blue color is terrific.

This jacket was put to the test the first time I wore it. I was hiking when it started pouring cats and dogs and I stayed dry under the jacket. It poured for about an hour. It's very comfy and fits nicely by itself as well as over a jacket. It is true to size. I would recommend you to buy it, great price, great jacket.

    • Answer Only Marmot could confirm but they seem to match up, spec wise. Optima, per STP is 15 oz. wt., 27" length; Minimalist, per Marmot is 14.4 oz. wt. and 27.25" length. Otherwise, all other specs appear identical.

    • Answer I don't think so. I think you would be too hot in it. I bought it as a layering piece for an Alaska trip and for our cooler but not cold winters in California.
