The windshirt is a must for hiking. It weighs 8-10 oz (depending upon the iteration. I have the original dri clime and it has accompanied me on hikes around the world for 10 years. The more recent models are less satisfactory - sleeves too long; bust too small, somewhat skimpy. Still, I keep a second one in case the 10-year model wears out!
