Great rain pants. Used nearly daily on a trip to Alaska for hiking trails and back country in rainy conditions. Easy to pull on, packed small, and most importantly kept me dry. They fit perfect over regular pants (M -- for a size 8-10 pants) and were not too long (5'4"). Highly recommend.

  • Question “What is the inseam of women's xl in these pant Size?”
Asked on 1/5/2016 11:13:13 AM by Mickey the hiker from CA
    • Answer 29 inches which is perfect for going over boots and still being long enough to cover right down to the boot break.

  • Question “What is the waterproof rating on these pants?”
Asked on 11/27/2015 4:00:03 PM by Aspiring Ice Climber from Upstate NY
    • Answer Sitting in a monsoon at a football stadium in Eugene, Oregon, these pants kept me DRY! I have no idea what the "official" rain rating is, but my "dry body" rating is a 5/5! 100% DRY rating, and in Oregon rain THAT is something to be thankful for!
Answered on 11/28/2015 5:58:56 PM by Sue from Oregon
    • Answer Yes, you can. I have done so. The pants have zippers at the cuffs that facilitate this.
Answered on 8/10/2015 1:20:15 AM by Hans from Connecticut
    • Answer I was able to put on and take off without taking off my boots, but you have too make sure that pant bottoms are fully open before you start or you look like a comedy of errors. Pants are great, I was on motorcycle in INTENSE RAIN!
Answered on 8/10/2015 4:08:01 AM by Pua1 from Illinois
    • Answer I tried putting them on and taking them off in the comfort of my home where I and my boots are obviously warm and dry and I could perform both actions with minimal effort and just a bit of patience. It can be done! They will be getting their first field test in October on a portion of the Appalachian Trail. Hope that helps.
Answered on 8/14/2015 11:01:12 AM by hikergirl from Illinois
    • Answer Yes. I was able to put them on in the field over my hiking boots, just unzip as far as possible and scrunch pantlef down to minimize mud/dirt transfer.

  • Question “Are these pants breathable?”
Asked on 6/16/2015 1:23:12 AM by Sue from San Diego
    • Answer Yes. I wore them over top of riding breeches on a horse trekking trip in Ecuador. They are lightweight, breathable, and waterproof!
Answered on 6/16/2015 5:43:50 AM by Cathy the Rider from Philadelphia, PA
    • Answer I would say so, they are not super 'heavy' (I haven't worn mine out in the elements yet, I am saving them for a trip or winter, whichever comes first) but in trying them on, I would definitely agree that they are breathable.

    • Answer Yes.

    • Answer I would say no. When I wear them I don't feel overly hot...but then again I live in Wisconsin and the temps aren't extremely warm when it's raining here.
Answered on 6/16/2015 8:39:24 AM by Pat from WI
    • Answer Yes. They do make noise as you walk, but they are very comfortable to wear. I bought a pair for myself, but my sister kept "borrowing" them, so I finally bought another pair for her. We both love them. I compare them to the motorcycle rain gear that I used to wear when it's really coming down (I use them for walking the dog) and these are much more comfortable/breathable.

    • Answer I'd go with a medium, unless you have very heavy jeans/pants on underneath. boots can make up for the lack of length, which is about 31-32 in a medium. STP has an excellent return program, also.
Answered on 2/14/2015 6:36:39 PM by Seattle Shopper from seattle wa
    • Answer I'd get a medium, unless you are wearing it over heavy jeans, then a large. The return policy is very good at STP, also
medium is size 8, hover the mouse over the sizes, it will then tell you size.
that would be 34 to 36" hips and they fit loose.

    • Answer I am 5' 81/2" and 135 pounds. I ordered a medium in these pants and they are plenty big (a bit baggy). I also wear a size 6 in most pants and these are good in the length. At your height you will probably want gaitors if you are using them in heavy rain as the pants will not come down to the base of your shoe. I use gaitors at my height. But the pants are great and completely water proof. I think that a large would be way too baggy on you, even if they offered a better length. Try the medium.

    • Answer You may be better off getting the pants in a men's size - I did the opposite. I got a men's med jacket because I usually don't like the cut off women's jackets. I am 5'8, 155, and got women's xl pants - they have elastic waist so you have some stretch- but the xl is about 32ish in length, I'd worry they would be baggy on you but the L may not be long enough. You may want to check and see if they have measurements for the men's M since they are probably cut all slimmer thru the hips. Buying online can be tricky...

    • Answer I'm guessing a medium, which is what I got my sister (5'8"+ but heavier). I prefer a bit of looseness to stuff like this. She wears Chilly's underneath. You could chance small, but I'm guessing medium would do the job albeit loosely.

    • Answer Here is a link to the Marmot size chart: http://marmot.com/content/product-info/sizing/ I bought these in Small, which is size 6 according to the label. The actual measured inseam of my pants is 30", waist 26" (with elastic unstretched). I am short, 5' 2", and the Small length is just right, so it looks like you would need a bigger size to get the length you need.

    • Answer I am 5 feet and 27" inseam, 115 pounds and these pants were way too long on me and there was no way to alter it due to the zippers. I'd take a medium to be sure. The small might be 32" inseam, I returned it. Nice pants though.

    • Answer They do. Trouser-style pockets on the front with zip. That's where my cell phone was this morning on my 16 degrees out walk!
Answered on 11/18/2014 1:41:43 PM by ara from Lemont
    • Answer Pair of hand pockets up front; mesh lined, with zippers, and wind flaps. Zips are too big to snag easily; the mesh isn't going to tear the first time a glove gets jammed in the pocket, and the flaps over the pockets are going to keep the wind snow and wet stuff mostly out.
