I usually wear size medium for shirts and jackets, but for this jacket, the medium was much to boxy. It would have been fine for wearing around town, but too big and bulky for hiking and other active pursuits. I exchanged for a small which is a little snug with both a fleece vest and jacket underneath but is otherwise a perfect fit for me. I like the fact that the pockets are raised up a bit so they do not get in the way of a backpack belt.

Not Gortex but very practical and great water resistance. Lightweight and readily compressible.

A very versatile jacket that gives you much bang for little buck. I have used it through a rainy spring in Boston, an even rainier summer in San Antonio and a multiday winter trip through the mountains of Big Bend. All in all very pleased. Kept me dry in all conditions. Pit zips are crucial for keeping you cool in warm rainy conditions. I am buying one for each member of my family for a trip to Costa Rica. A longer cut in the back covers your hind quarters if biking in the rain. My only complaint is in windy weather below 30. I wear a fleece and base layer with it, but the wind can sometimes cut through this jacket leaving you a bit chilly.

These are great jackets, especially at the well-below-a-hundred that I paid for it. However the sizes run a bit big. Normally I wear a large in most jackets -although I run right between the large-medium a lot of the time as a size 43. This jacket fits me very well in the medium size.

This is a mostly great jacket. Its lightweight, breathable with vented pit zips and pockets. Where the jacket stayed covered, I stayed dry. However, while coming down Mt. Washington in NH on one of its notoriously blustery and rainy days I was wishing for some sort of drawstring on the hood to keep it from billowing and blowing off my head. It was a constant battle to attempt to keep my head dry and covered. This is the only, but rather big drawback that I found.

Really happy when I put it on--very lightweight and it also had pit zips! I also like the nylon ripstop fabric. I believe that this jacket will last a long time--I can always use a DWR finish if the waterproofing wears off.

The Marmot Precip jacket has stood tall against the elements to date. It sheds the wind and water well, weighs almost nothing and packs up small. It has kept me dry in numerous backcountry rain storms through the last 18 months of use. I hope it holds up well for a few years to come. I liked the first so much, I purchased two more. One for work and the other never leaves my truck. The full-zip precip pants are great too!!!
