This jacket really exceeded my expectations. It fits great, the cut (length, collar height, cuffs, etc.) is just right, and the slash pockets are placed just right. The material is very effective at blocking wind and light rain or mist, yet it does not get clammy inside. It also does not feel "cr... Read More
Reviewed by mchan1 from New England on Saturday, September 17, 2016Bought an older version from years ago and it still fits. Appears that Marmot is finally retiring this jacket.
It's windproof and water resistant. It can be worn in cooler temps during the autumn but not a winter's jacket as it's not insulated. The fleece backing is Very light.
Soft shell jackets are meant to provide some slight insulation, more than a shell, but still enough durability of a shell. It's also meant for relatively Active sports not just to be worn around town.
I'm in-between sizes so I can fit both a large and XL.
Originally had a large but thought I lost it so I bought the XL but then I found the large jacket now I'm stuck with both. Both are essentially the same except for the wrist closure which changed.
Besides the high price, the cut affects the jacket is it's a slim cut.
The large can be worn with a regular shirt but it's still tight overall esp. in the chest and shoulders. It has an elastic wrist closure.
The XL can be worn with a fleece vest or a light (fleece) sweater but it's still tight in the shoulders/arms but more roomier in the chest and body. It has the adjustable velcro wrist closure.
So if you want to layer, then choose the larger size.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by WFS from ozarks on Monday, October 20, 2014had to send it back. I'm an XL with a 45" chest. This did not allow for any thick clothing underneath, including thicker shirts. Very tightly cut for some reason. It is very well made, as you expect. Sleeve length was great and I have long arms.
Reviewed by WFS from ozarks on Thursday, October 9, 2014Well made jacket, good sleeve length, but tight in the middle. I wear an XL, am 6'2", with a 44L chest. this jacket is too tight to allow any layering underneath, rendering unusable for me. Also, it is difficult for me to believe that the original price of this jacket was nearly $275!!! Way overpriced msrp. I love Marmot, but this jacket is simply too tight. back it goes! My Mountain Hardwear version of this jacket fits perfectly.

Reviewed by outsider Dan from Sedalia, COLORADO on Monday, October 21, 2013I have had this jacket for only a little while but already I can tell how great it is going to be. The wind has been very brisk as fall/winter temps are coming in. With this jacket on, I have felt nothing but warmth and comfort. It is going to be terrific when winter kicks in.
