I am very pleased with the design and construction of the Sharp Point. I did a lot of shopping. Because of difficult-to-size items out there, I ordered both a M and a L from Sierra Trading Post. I wore both around the house for a day and opted for the M (I'm a male, 40" chest, 32" arms, 5'7", 177 lbs.) The Medium is a bit snug in the chest but okay compared to the Large. I like the Pit Zips, which will provide more ventilation (I returned a North Face Marvel to another vendor, which didn't have pits and was too tight in armpit.) The stretchable, smooth exterior looks like it will not collect briars and burrs, important to me, as I'm a volunteer maintainer of the Appal Trail in SW Virginia and need things to work right. Function, weight, cleanability, durability and versatility mean everything. The biggest design flaw is in not have a combination Velcro/elastic cuff. Mine is a Velcro strap only, meaning that every time I put it on and take off I have to mess with the strap and adjust. Marmot really needs to re-evaluate that one. An emergency, fold-up hood, hidden away, would be nice, too. Other than that, the thing is perfect. I love the pit zips as a cooling agent. The zip-up pockets are nice, as is the zippable inner pocket. The poly fleece isn't too bulky, a big problem with other jackets of mine. I'll be taking this coat on a wide range of trips and journeys. ...Karl in High Point, NC

Great for Spring/Fall in Michigan when weather changes. It's light and sometimes all you need is something to keep the wind off to stay warm.

Bought it for mountain climbing, but could be shorter to get above the climbing harness.

Best all-around jacket I own. Liked it so much I bought 2 (black & grey). Owned 1 for 7 years, wear it ALL the time and still looks/wears like new after a trip through the washer. Great for changing weather with huge pit-zips when it gets hot and immune to wind if it gets cold. Not bad in rain either. Simple, well thought-out design. You will not be disappointed!

I'm a 41 chest, 5'9". 175 lbs with 32 inch sleeve and this jacket fits me perfectly. This is the warmest most versatile soft shell I own. It cleans up well in the wash. I've treated the jacket with the spray dwr compound, and it beads up water. The seams are not taped. The fabric is durable. I like my Arc Terx jackets but the sleeves are always too long and Marmot runs truer to size. I own two of these jackets, (a black and a blue). Cheers,
