I purchased these pants along with the Saucony Drylete Boston pants to see which would be better for running in the cold. The Surge pants won the duel because of the fit and the excellent material. The Saucony pants were basically glorified baggy tights that were loose in some places and tight in others. The Surge pants fit more like regular pants, but the material has a stretchy soft shell type feeling. I'm 6'3" and 190 lbs (32" waist, 34" inseam) and the size medium is still pretty loose in the waist and a tad bit long in the legs. Anyone shorter than me may need to roll them up to get them to work. I've used the pants for running, cycling and rock climbing and they've handled it all very well.

I bought these and the Saucony Boston pants at the same time. These are a more typical cut--i.e., a roomier trouser leg--and lighter weight. I prefer the greater heft of the fabric and the closer fit of the Saucony pants, but these Marmot pants are well made and provide great stretch for exercising. I'm 5-11, 162, with a 31" inseam, and the size S fit perfectly.

I am a 32/32 jean and a Medium in pretty much everything I own. 5'10, 165-170#, 40R (suit coat). These pants are great but the size just didn't work for me. They fit like a large. I could get away with the waist because of the draw string. My Medium fit like a 34/34. I gave them to my cousin who's 6'0" 185 and they fit perfect on him. I may try to order them in a Small.

If you'd like to walk/run/hike naked yet avoid the risk of arrest, these may be just the thing. I got these hoping for a shoulder season pant - lightweight, stretchy and somewhat wind blocking. They're lightweight and stretchy beyond belief, but wind blocking they're not. From a thermal perspective, these seem no different than my silk-weight long johns when leaving the sleeping bag for a pee in the middle of the night. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. While they didn't quite work out for my intended purpose, I have since discovered an application where they shine. Wearing these under rain pants in wet hikes has proved outstanding. In temps above 55 degrees I'll chose rafting shorts under rain pants. In the 40's I want my legs covered as rain pants seem to always feel cold and clammy during rest stops. Long johns are too warm except when the temp gets down in the 30's. These are perfect. most recently on a 14 mile out & back with 2500' elevation gain, and temps in the upper 40's/low 50's, I felt a bit too cool for the first 3 miles, just about perfect for the next 3 miles, and only slightly too warm the final mile of climbing. I have a pair of wind pants that are lighter and actually wind proof, but they lack pockets which bugs me. These pants have zippered hand pockets which aren't very deep, which I like. Deep enough for hands, but not so deep that your keys slap your thighs when walking. These are so stretchy that I went a size smaller and they fit perfect. I'm 5' 10", 155lbs and normally wear a M but the medium had excess fabric around the butt and thigh. The small fits like it was custom tailored. If you're looking for something appropriate in cold weather, consider the Tarn pant. It breaths very well, but actually insulates a bit. The Medium fits me perfect in the Tarn.
