Don't pay-up for Gore-tex, Marmots Membrain jackets too me seem to breath better along with being waterproof/windproof. I have to always order one size up with Marmot due to the arms being not as generous. Powder skirt has snaps and neck line is soft material.

The zipper was broken (teeth kept coming apart) and so I returned the jacket.

This jacket is awesome,if you are looking for a shell/outer layer the tamarack will be a good choice.I have used in allday rain&wind and it stands true to the Marmot name, and this winter it will be my snowboard jacket, the jacket runs a little small so I would suggest one size bigger for layering

This is one of the nicest things that I own. My title says it all. This is a very well made shell/ overgarment. I got the XXl and I am a big guy. this shell fits and works over my goose down jacket, just a poly jacket , or any combination of the above. Why would you be limited with a three in one-where the different things need to be zipped in and out-'who does that?' when there are the limitless options with a quality shell like this and a quality jacket, vest and poly jacket? OOps I said that the 3 in ones be what Rhett tells Scarlet, and that was a No No.

The jacket is excellent, just not what I wanted. The usual outstanding Marmot quality and design features, but it has a light insulating lining. I returned it for this reason, but recommend this highly to anyone looking for a shell with a bit of insulation.
