5.0 out of 5 stars. The Scree is the new version of the Tarn
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Northern California on Monday, June 2, 2014
You may already know that the Tarn is the outdated soft shell pant that has been replaced by the Scree. The Tarn can be purchased for less than $65 while STP and other retailers still have inventory of the Tarn soft shell pant. The Scree pant is not often discounted and its full retail price is $110. I have not worn the Tarn pants in wet cold weather, so I cannot comment on their water resistance and their cold weather comfort. They do appear to be well made with quality materials. I have three pair of the Tarn pants and one pair of the Scree pants. To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between the Tarn pants and the Scree pants.

Very well built pant, size is spot on great fit. Shame the quantities were limited, good buy. Time will tell when the clothing meets the grounds.

Bought after a unexpected blizzard on top of a glacier at the end of a 14 mile hike. these hit a need for functional warmer hiking pants but were far too long I am 6-2" 36-34 these had 4+ inches extra length
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great trekking pant but a little long.

This is a very nice quality pant. The large fits a 34 waist but they run a little long.
These pants are made of stretch material with correct darting and pocktes for hiking
or trekking. Have a comfortable elastic waist band and fly. Superb pants
with more like a 34/34 measurement in the large.
    Recommend.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent outdoors shell pant
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Geo from Colorado on Sunday, December 25, 2016
I bought this soft shell pant earlier in the winter as my job has me spending a significant amount of time outside in all kids of weather. I also can spend a significant amount of time indoors or inside my patrol vehicle. I am a deputy sheriff in Colorado near the Continental Divide and our weather can go to extremes in just a few hours. This pant is a great fit, sheds snow and wind equally well while remaining very flexible for climbing over obstacles and getting in an out of my patrol car. They are weather resistant without being overly warm when I'm indoors for periods of time getting caught up on paperwork. The dual action zipper pull on the fly is great as my gun belt can cover the zipper pull when it's zipped up. More pockets would be nice.

Very comfortable. Thick enough to be warm, but no so thick to be hot. Runs a little long.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
