Marmot Threshold Jacket - Soft Shell (For Men)

This coat is used as a lightweight winter coat option. It does the job when a heavier down coat is not needed.

I bought this jacket to have something more low profile than a big, bulky winter coat for hiking and skiing. I was afraid it wouldn't be warm enough, but as an outer layer it has proved to be plenty warm. It also moves well during outdoor activity. The medium fit me perfect (I am 6' 160lbs) with slightly long sleeves. I think that little bit of extra length keeps the shoulders from feeling tight and makes it comfortable to move around in though. I am not fond of the Velcro cuffs, they are not uncomfortable, but they bunch up when you tighten them. I do love the waist drawstring being in the very warm pockets.

I am 178lbs, 5'9", 42" chest. I ordered both a medium and large. The medium actually fits nicely with JUST a base layer underneath and I anticipated wearing this for winter road cycling. This morning I rode 20 mile here in central Pa., temperatures right around 28-30F. Portions of my ride were at 20-28mph and wind resistance was excellent. The jacket did seem to breath better than I had anticipated as the interior of jacket was virtually dry on my return and my poly base layer just damp. This M1 Series jacket(Marmot makes softrshells in M1 thru M3 weights,M1 being the heaviest) MIGHT be too warm for highly aerobic sports such as XC Skiing in all but extreme cold. The large size also fits well but allows some layering if I choose. I have no issues with the sleeve length problems listed by others and consider my arms average length at best. The interior sleeve fleece DOES tend to drag a bit on your underlayer but seems to be more of a minor issue in donning the jacket as it did not tend to drag or be noticeable on my ride. Very attractive, well made,flexible, athletic cut jacket.

Good solid jacket. Size is about what I hoped for. Medium is a nice trim fit for me: 6'-3" and 175#. I would prefer the sleeves a bit longer, but they work fine.

I've had several soft shells, but this one is different. The fit is snug, and that's a good thing for layering. Marmot quality is simply noticeable from the minute you put your hands on it. Great material, excellent seams, attention to detail. But the best part is the warmth. It is thicker than other soft shell's I've worn. It is comfortable down into the 30's and works perfectly as a mid layer. I love this jacket...

I purchased this jacket last year and fell in love with it. Comfortable, perfect fit, excellent down to about 30 degrees. Unfortunately I lost it so I bought the exact same jacket again. 6'1 / 160lbs size large

I bought this jacket for my 16yr. old son. He loves it. Stylish and functional all in one. He walked home in the rain today and commented on how waterproof it was even though it states it is only water resistant. Great jacket for a great price.

The only thing I don't like are the waist draw string pulls located in pockets, kind of annoying, but it is minor. Jacket is nicer than other reviewers said. Stops wind dead in its track. Combine with a light sweater or other layers and I would say you would be quite comfortable in anything 28f and up depending on what you can tolerate. I would wear this for anything 28-55f, I live in Chicago so we have a lot of days in that range.

This is a great jacket. I bought it as a replacement that has worn out.
