This was a lovely jacket, but I was hoping it would be lighter in weight so it could be worn for cross country skiing. It is much too heavy for that activity, but would be great for outdoor activities/downhill skiing, or just wearing around town.

I think this will be perfect for Boston winters. My Marmot fleece jacket zips in for additional warmth on those extra cold days. The jacket is roomy without being bulky and there are pockets galore-so convenient when commuting. I haven't used it yet so can't comment on warmth but have high hopes. I have it in white and it looks cute and sporty with jeans.

I bought this jacket to use skiing, but I will also use it in the rain. It's very comfortable and warm. I like the fact that the vest, hood, and powder skirt are removable. It's just a little bulky with the vest inside, but the extra warmth could be nice on a cold day. The vest can be worn alone. Overall, it's well made and attractive--a very nice jacket!

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
