I picked this up because a) I'm a Marmot fan and b) I liked the convertible tote/backpack concept. So far it hasn't disappointed - I've mostly used it for small shopping runs, but I expect to find all sorts of uses. I can throw it on my back so I don't feel stupid carrying an empty bag around, and it has enough weight/structure to stay put without sliding off my shoulders. It doesn't close at the top, which keeps things simple, but I do wonder about rain/snow getting in. A flap that covered the opening would be a nice addition, but as long as you have some weight in the bag, the straps should pull it shut tightly enough. The outer and inner zip pockets are handy too. I wouldn't mind if it was maybe 25-30% bigger, but that's a minor issue. Great product!

This is a great bag. I purchased two and just ordered another. It's just big and sturdy enough to pack full of groceries as well as large enough to use as a bag for work items. Appears very sturdy so I hope it will hold up to our use.

I was very impressed with the quality of this product. After I received it, just had to buy another for a friend that is an avid camper and hiker!

The concept of it is not a bad idea, espcially the way the straps convert, which is quite clever. However, there are major design flaws. For example, one side of it is padded like the back panel of a backpack. Becuase of this, it does not fold properly when used as a tote bag. Also, the straps cannot be lenghtened enough to go over your shoulder, which means you have to carry it in your hand. It has limited use as a backpack, because the top has no zipper or other fastener. It is also too deep. I would have returned it if I had paid more for it, but it wasn't worth the cost of the return shipping to return it.
